In 2018 I was working in corporate America, as a Client Services Director of a Global Virtual Bookkeeping Team. Working for a consulting firm opens your eyes to what little support there is for small businesses. In short, I just felt I could do a much better job by myself partnering directly with the client. It didn’t take long for me to realize the huge demand for honest bookkeepers. In 2019, I launched YAME Consulting. My vision was to create a place where small businesses could go to make their accounting easy. YAME stands for “Your Accounting Made Easy.”
I built my client list up. And in a short while made the decision to quit my job and go into business for myself full-time. I learned there’s a fine line between “being your own boss” and creating another J-O-B. Worst of all, I had to deal with all the stress and responsibility alone as a solopreneur. I knew I had to learn more than how to be self-employed.
I invested in myself, and the business grew from a solopreneur/freelancer/gig to a full-fledged business operation with a 10-person team. Our business is sustainable, manageable, and profitable.
My business has transformed over the last few years. As my income has gone up, my work hours have gone down.
